I’ve been yelled at by English teachers, co-op work term report markers, and Microsoft Word for overuse of passive voice. Mostly I look at the sentence or paragraph they’re yelling about and say “what? I don’t see what’s wrong with it”. But even I recognize this as too much.

Even around here (with so-called strict “worker-friendly” laws) getting caught looking for other jobs will kill your chance for a raise, even when done in your free time at home. And, if done from work, is a valid termination reason resulting in a 12 week no-unemployment-money-from-the-state period (including no health insurance).
