Take a look at these graphs: Free Disk-Space for ‘/usr/lib/news/spool/articles’ on freenet9, especially the “Monthly” graph, and see if you can figure out what happened. And then look at the “Yearly” graph and see if you can spot when I made the same mistake and didn’t spot is so quickly.
Sheesh, I feel like an idiot.
Expiry is overrated anyhow.
The important part is spotting it. I’ve been meaning to fix a fundamentally-broken log rotation on a couple of machines here, but since it needs to be done *right* I’ve been putting off doing it half-assed by learning what part of the month the disk gets full, and cleaning it up before it has a chance.
Also, much-belated apologies for not catching up with you and skud and adb and others during OLS. I was sick as a dog for most of it and wasn’t about to take on whatever sort of world cuisine everyone settled on, but it would’ve been good to touch base again.
Well, Skud didn’t show up either. As for “world cuisine” – we went to a roast beef house.
