  1. For what it is worth, I’m told that building up one’s quadriceps, shortens the muscle and helps remove the “play” from the knee. You have probably been there, done that. Good luck with whatever gives you some relief.

  2. PS: Chondromalacia can be exacerbated by gait problems. That is the foot not landing in a neutral plane when stepping, walking, running.

  3. Remember what I said about “a treatment that I’ve tried three times already and which has made it worse every time”? I was referring specifically to attempts to build up my quads, and/or attempts to strengthen or shorten various other muscles in that area. The first time this was attempted was in 1978 or 1979. Not exactly news to me.

    I’ve also been wearing orthotics for 10 years or more.
