Good plan! When I did that, I kept track of pain level, specific joints affected, unusual appearance (i.e., degree of redness or swelling), and impact on activities. It was really helpful, because for a while all my rheumatologist appointments were on good days. Another thing I did when my hands were really swollen was take pictures with the digital camera. (It was really hard to hold the camera and focus with only one hand so I could take a picture of the other hand!)
