So very, very sad
A couple of months ago I was so happy when my friend Mike took me out flying in his float plane, as I wrote in Rants and Revelations » Splashy fun.
Today, Mike and his flying partner Dave crashed that plane and died.
This sucks.

Paul, this is sad news. We’ve met great friends through flying, but it means we’ll lose some of them the same way. I’m sorry to hear of your loss.

Paul,
Sorry to hear about your friend. I too have lost a good friend to when his Baron went in. The only consolation is that he was doing something he loved. Doesn’t soften the blow but somehow helps. Our thoughts are with you and his family.

Life is to be lived. Your friends Mike and Dave died as they had lived - with passion. If there is benefit to be derived from this sad loss, it is as a realization and tribute to living life passionately and leaving it on our terms.
May you feel peace in the knowledge that you shared an important passion in the lives of your friends. May you always keep them alive in your happiest memories.
