MovableType

This web log software I’m using, MovableType appears to be extremely functional and customizable. One thing I’m thinking of doing is converting the “what’s new” portions of my CoPilot and my Rochester Flying Club web sites into blogs. Either the static content could be put in in the template, or maybe the blog portion could be embedded as a frame or an iframe. I’m obviously going to have to experiment some with this.

Another thing I’d like to do is learn a whole bunch more about style sheets, since I’ve seen some amazing stuff done with them.

You wanna know why people get viruses?

Do you want to know why people get viruses? I was visitng some people I’d set up an office network for a couple of years ago. I’d also connected them to the internet via cable modem. I stressed to them that since they’re on the big bad internet full time now, they’ve got to heed those Windows Critical Update notifications, and they should get anti-virus software as well.

Oh my God!

I’ve worked in so many soul destroying cube farms, and a couple of places where a bunch of developers where stuck in a big echo-ey room, that this place looks like nerd-vanna to me.

Actually, I worked one place with semi-private offices. It was great because I shared an office with another bird lover and we used to bring our birds in and let them fly around the room. But that place was soul destroying in so many other ways that it couldn’t make up for the nice offices.

Skiing Versus Flying

This is another in my series of reposts from my original journal on Slashdot over to this new blog. With hopefully a bit of editing. This one involves the age old question, “Is flying as good as skiing”. Ok, it’s not an age-old question, but it’s one a friend of mine asked when I was reminiscing about skiing and feeling bad about how I can’t do it any more.
