I'm from around Austin and I did meet Bax a time or two.. Once I purposely flew down to Beaumont and met him because of the very reason you wrote about... his love of flying. When I was a beginning pilot he inspired me and made me want to be a better pilot. I bought his book "Bax Seat Pilot" and he signed it for me. He was a great guy... I'll really miss him...
