The orange rescue helicopters one frequently sees at CYTZ are for ground medevac. They cannot land on water, so don't get too brave about lake crossing on their account.

I don't have a problem with flying over water. I just don't tell the airplane we're over water and it usually behaves.

The CYA(t) airspace in the lake Scugog area is a designated Flight Training area. You can fly through it OK, but should make a radio call on Unicom before doing so to check for any conflicts. Beware that there is heavy training activity in this area from CYOO.

CYA 520(T) is a training area "TO 4000 CONT DAYS", at least according to my Toronto VNC dated February 1997. (I haven't been flying in a while, and this is the closet chart to hand. *sigh*)

The CYAs are advisory Class F, while the CYRs are restricted Class F.

I did a quick search on "CYA 520" on Transport Canada's website and found this:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/general/exams/guides/tp13728/Section_2.htm -- scroll to question 31. (The correct answer is 2. ;) )
